Concept/

“The Parade” is one of my practices of spontaneous drawing which directly refers to a real-life incident, the death of a loved one, my grandmother. Proceeding with the spontaneous drawing, for me, is to recall specific memories in life rather than creating an imaginative scene. Visualising the emotions that I have experienced during the incident and putting an effort in shutting them into the painting is the core value of my spontaneous drawing. “The Parade” is a picture I painted after the funeral of my grandmother. This is, of course, an ambiguous title for people who watch the painting for the first time. However, it was my impression in those days, connecting intense emotions, religious rituals and Taiwanese culture.
