Concept/

​

Pairing Season proposes that with every breath, connection arises and renews. Chung’s Automatic Drawing moves between the subconscious and the real; the black line—an imprint of the subconscious—breathes and pauses of its own accord, opening an ambiguous interval between void and matter. Here, desire tends toward union, renewal, and fecundity. The frog motif signals a primal impulse, a reproductive drive. Thus the line becomes a courtship call—summoning, waiting, inviting the other into a lek. Within this field, forms appear and fade, measure their distances, then draw near and entwine. When the viewer’s breath synchronises with the painting’s rhythm, a mingled consciousness enters one another and, at last, becomes a pair.

《Pairing Season》は、一息ごとに関係が生まれ続けることを示す。私のオートドローイングは、潜在意識と現実のあわいを往還する。潜在意識の表れである黒い線は自律的に呼吸し、間を置き、虚と実のあいだに曖昧な異界をひらく。ここでは欲望が結合‧再生‧繁殖へと向かい、画面の「蛙」は原初的衝動と生殖本能の象徴である。やがて線は求愛の合図となり、呼びかけ、応答を待ち、相手をレック（求愛場）へ招く。その場では像が生まれては消え、距離を試し、近づき、絡み合う。観者の呼吸が画面の律動と同期したとき、混じり合う意識は互いに入り込み、ついに連理となる。

《Pairing Season》在每一次吐息之間，萬物不斷生成連結；我的自動繪畫即是在潛意識與現實之間來回往返交流。黑色線條作為潛意識的再現產物，會自行地呼吸與停頓，於是在畫面中的虛與實之間，被其開出了一處曖昧的異度空間。在這個空間中，慾求著結合、再生與繁衍；畫面中「蛙」的意象，象徵的是原初的原始慾望與繁衍生殖的本能，於是乎黑線成為求愛的訊號，不停呼喚、等待回應，邀請對方進入求偶場；場域中各式形體生成、消長，彼此之間試探距離，進而靠近、纏合，當觀者的呼吸與畫面的節奏同步之時，同流意識便可進入彼此之中，最終結為連理。
